
Island Harvest Food Bank Mourns the Passing of its Founder Linda Breitstone

April 29, 2025MELVILLE, NY — August 13, 2024 — Brian R. Leidy, a resident of Laurel Hollow, NY, has joined Island Harvest Food Bank as its Chief Development Officer, according to an announcement by Randi Shubin Dresner, president and CEO of the Melville, NY-based hunger relief and human services organization.
Mr. Leidy has more than 27 years of experience in development, including at the SCO Family of Services, Brooklyn Public Library, China Institute, and Good Shepherd Hospital. In his role at Island Harvest, he will be responsible for the food bank’s efforts in engaging and cultivating philanthropic relationships and directing fundraising efforts to support the organization’s core mission to end hunger and reduce food waste on Long Island through innovative programs and services aimed at addressing the root causes of hunger and food insecurity.
“Brian has earned a reputation as a highly respected fundraising executive who has yielded successful results built on driving positive outcomes in the nonprofit sector,” said Ms. Shubin Dresner. “His accomplishments and expertise in the nonprofit sector, make him a valuable addition to our executive leadership staff. We are excited to welcome him to the Island Harvest team.”
Mr. Leidy earned a Master of Arts in History and Bachelor of Arts in History and Political Science from East Stroudsburg University in East Stroudsburg, PA. He also received an associate’s degree in general education from Northampton Community College in Northampton County, PA.
