Every Action Counts: VOLUNTEER

Each week, over 300 volunteers help Island Harvest to end hunger and reduce food waste on Long Island. From organizing food drives to harvesting crops to assisting in our warehouse, our volunteers are essential to our work. Join us and make a difference!

Hands-On Ways to Help End Hunger

Mobile Markets & Community Distributions:

Distribute food, including loading cars and home deliveries, at community and mobile sites.

Healthy Harvest Farm:

Help plant and harvest fresh produce for the community on our 2-acre organic farm in Brentwood.

Warehouse and Office Volunteers:

Assist in our Melville warehouse to prepare food boxes for seniors, sort donated food to prepare for distribution, or lend support to our office staff in their work to end hunger.

Run a Food Drive

Last year, Island Harvest collected over 750,000 pounds of food through food drives, much of which came from people just like YOU who stepped up and offered to run a food drive. We need your help! You can even run a virtual food drive!
