Each week, over 300 volunteers help Island Harvest to end hunger and reduce food waste on Long Island. From organizing food drives to harvesting crops to assisting in our warehouse, our volunteers are essential to our work. Join us and make a difference!
Take Action: Donate Your Time and Talent
Mobile Markets & Community Distributions:
Help distribute nutritious food to seniors, veterans, children, and families in need at various locations and through direct delivery throughout Nassau and Suffolk counties.
Healthy Harvest Farm:
Plant, weed, and harvest fresh produce on our two-acre, organic Healthy Harvest Farm & Greenhouse which provides fresh fruit and vegetables straight from the vine to our neighbors in need across the island.
Warehouse and Office Volunteers:
Assist in our Melville warehouse to prepare food boxes for seniors, sort donated food to prepare for distribution, or lend support to our office staff in their work to end hunger.

Take Action: Donate Food
Take action and donate healthy, non-perishable food or household items at any of these Hunger Action Month food drives:
- September 1 - 30: Drop off food at any Daniel Gale Sotheby’s International Realty locations throughout the month
- September 13: “Power to Feed” at Stop & Shop, 365 NY-109, West Babylon, 9am – 4pm
- September 22: Tobay Car Show, Tobay Beach, 11am – 4pm
- *TENTATIVE* September 22: “Reckoning at the Great South Bay Brewery,” 25 Drexel Drive, Bayshore, 2pm – 6pm, *The first 50 guests will receive a goodie bag
- September 28: Stony Brook’s “University CommDay,” Academic Mall, 100 Nicolls Road, 12pm – 4pm *Bring 2 non-perishable items and receive a free cooler bag, while supplies last.
This year, for Hunger Action Month, you can also help our neighbors in need by contributing to Island Harvest.
