Community Empowerment Supervisor – $30/Hour

We accomplish this through efficient food and product collection and distribution systems, enhanced hunger awareness and nutrition education programs, a workforce development institute, targeted services for specific operations, outreach activities and advocacy initiatives.

Program Supervisor

(Bi-lingual in English/Spanish)

Job Summary: This position leads a team responsible for working throughout Long Island to increase participation in SNAP among those who are eligible through two core strategies: enrollment and application assistance, and outreach, promotion, and education. The incumbent will plan, oversee and evaluate all aspects of Island Harvest’s outreach efforts for the SNAP program.

Job Responsibilities include:

Develop and implement strategy to conduct outreach and trainings for agency and community partners to promote SNAP participation.

Manage SNAP application processing through promotional activities, scheduled application sessions, and by phone or email to screen and enroll potential SNAP participants.

Lead, support, and coordinate Community Empowerment team members’ daily tasks and assignments related to outreach events, processing applications, and operating in the call center.

Respond in a timely manner to all inquiries for information and provide excellent customer service to agencies and program clients.

Maintains agency and related databases assuring accurate and complete data and service information.

Analyze statistical data and measures to determine program efficiency.

Maintain appropriate recordkeeping as required for grants, data tracking or other program regulations. Ensure all necessary data to track progress and impact of SNAP and outreach efforts is tracked and reported monthly or as required by appropriate deadlines.

Respond to information/data inquiries for programs from state agencies or other sources in a timely manner.

Educate and promote SNAP participation and use throughout Long Island.

Serve as the resident expert on SNAP plans for Island Harvest. Maintain knowledge of current SNAP policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

A bachelor’s degree in Social Work or similar discipline.

3-5 years’ experience working with issues related to hunger and poverty; program development, implementation, and evaluation; and training/educational program development and coordination.

Minimum of 2 years in a supervisory role.

Prior experience working in a multi-cultural environment preferred.

Bi-lingual in English and Spanish.

Knowledge of SNAP or USDA regulated programs.

Must possess current ServSafe Certification or be able to pass ServSafe Certification within first month of employment.

Good computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google.

Salary: $30/Hour
