Warehouse Supervisor

ISLAND HARVEST is looking for a knowledgeable and talented leader with significant warehouse experience to become our Warehouse Supervisor working out of our Melville, NY office.

 

Job Summary:

This position supervises and oversees all Island Harvest warehouses, as well as the storage and distribution for all of Island Harvest’s food distribution programs via all warehouses, contract facilities, direct deliveries, centralized distribution programs and warehouse pick-up programs.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Oversee and coordinate daily warehouse activities such as receiving, documenting, and storing goods, managing inventory levels, controlling the efficient movement of goods, supervising staff, and ensuring safe food handling practices.
  • Train, supervise and evaluate the performance of warehouse employees; assign workloads to warehouse and sanitation/maintenance workers.
  • Supervise the scheduling, picking and preparation of all orders to service Agency programs.
  • Coordinate and control the acceptance of donated product into the warehouse, from both driver pick-ups and donor direct deliveries including dock appointments.
  • Monitor the quality, quantity, cost and efficiency of the movement and storage of products at all warehouses.
  • Facilitate the loading and unloading of tractor trailers, trucks, and other vehicles.
  • Prepare and maintain all records, logs and reports as required.
  • Ensure all food safety requirements are adhered to including implementation and documentation of proper sanitation, pest control, cleaning and maintenance procedures for all locations.
  • Assisting in the hiring, training, motivating and retaining of all warehouse personnel.

 

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 5+ years’ experience working in a warehouse environment
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Must be forklift certified.
  • Food bank or food distribution experience preferred.
  • Prior work or volunteer experience in non-profit is a plus.
  • ServSafe Certification a plus, must be able to pass the test within 3 months of employment.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license; a CDL B license is a plus.

Salary Range: $62k – $65k
