A perennial favorite fundraiser among foodies and those passionate about addressing the critical issue of hunger on Long Island, Island Harvest Food Bank is pleased to announce that its 22nd Annual Taste of the Harvest Celebration will be held on Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. at the Crest Hollow Country Club, 8325 Jericho Turnpike, Woodbury, New York
Newsday Charities, a McCormick Foundation Fund, a longtime supporter of Island Harvest, will be honored at this year’s Taste of the Harvest Celebration for its generous funding of hunger-relief efforts on Long Island. Newsday Charities is dedicated to assisting those less fortunate improve their lives and become self-sufficient by making grants to nonprofit organizations with programs focused on child abuse prevention and treatment, child and youth education, housing, and hunger.
The Taste of the Harvest Celebration is an atypical fundraising dinner where an array of Long Island’s finest restaurants, caterers, country clubs and other outstanding food establishments unite to offer guests a sumptuous evening of sampling a wide-variety of gourmet food and desserts — all to help raise much needed funds for Island Harvest to continue to provide food and related support to more than 300,000 Long Islanders who struggle with hunger every day.
Co-chairing this year’s event is Philip Wachtler, principal at Wachtler Knopf Equities LLC, and Gabriel Alonso, president/partner of Unitrends USA Inc., both of whom are long-standing, dedicated supporters of Island Harvest.
In addition to scrumptious food and delectable desserts, the Taste of the Harvest Celebration includes a silent auction, offering a variety of fine merchandise, gift certificates and other great prizes, certain to suit everyone’s taste.
