RIVERHEAD – Phillips Avenue Elementary School students are helping to put food on the tables of the less fortunate.
Principal Debra Rodgers says the Riverhead school started the food pantry to help their community. She says the school was able to provide over 71 people with food on Thursday, which was the first night of the pantry.
Families can pick up everything from juice boxes to canned goods to cereal.
The pantry will be open on the second and fourth Thursday of every month from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
