This summer, Camps ‘R’ Us is proud to partner with Island Harvest, and their Campers Against Hunger Food Drive Challenge. We are asking campers, staff members and parents to donate non-perishable food items that will be distributed to hungry people across Long Island.
Our 2014 goal is to deliver 10,000 pounds of food.
Our challenge commences today, Wednesday, July 9th, billed this summer as “Let’s Can Hunger” day. Donation boxes will be located at each of our six campuses, and donations will be tracked by our staff to give recognition to our top performers. Certificates and prizes will be awarded to campers and staff who make the most donations. The Food Drive Challenge will also have an impact on team scoring during Color War, as our food drive concludes on the same day as our annual, 3-day campus-wide competition, August 15th.
Camps ‘R’ Us will also provide campers, staff members and parents with resources to solicit food and charitable monetary donations from relatives, friends and local business owners during the summer. We will be delivering all donated food items to Island Harvest by the end of the summer camp season.
In addition, Camps ‘R’ Us is requesting canned food items as ‘admission’ to certain camp-sponsored events, traditions and field trips. More information to follow!
Thank you in advance for your help and support. Our 2014 goal is to deliver 10,000 pounds of food. With the support of our CRU family, we are confident that we can meet or exceed our goal this summer!
