Island Harvest Celebrates Distribution of 8 Million Pounds of Food in 2010

On December 28th, County Executives Edward Mangano and Steve Levy joined Island Harvest at a food distribution to mark the 8 millionth pound of food delivered to Long Island’s soup kitchens, food pantries and emergency feeding programs in 2010, an increase of 1.5 million pounds over last year!  Their newest tool in the fight against hunger, a 24-foot refrigerated truck generously funded by the Walmart Foundation, was also dedicated at the event.
