NY Islanders Rick DiPietro and Garth Snow team up with Island Harvest at Huge Food Collection Rally in Carle Place

Mineola, NY – November 16, 2006

To help thousands of Long Islanders in need enjoy a brighter and healthier holiday season, the New York Islanders are teaming up with Island Harvest at its community food collection rally at the Carle Place Red Lobster, 211-217 Old Country Road, Carle Place on Tuesday, November 21 from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Islander goalie Rick DiPietro and General Manager Garth Snow will be greeting fans and signing autographs from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. while helping Island Harvest collect turkeys, food and cash donations to assist Island Harvest in its mission of ending hunger and reducing food waste on Long Island. Any fan that brings down a turkey, nonperishable items, or monetary donations will be able to get autographs. Broadcasting live from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. will be KJOY 98.3 FM morning show co-host, Kim Berk with prizes and giveaways for generous Long Islanders stopping by to make donations.

“We’re privileged to partner with a great charity like Island Harvest to help families in need, especially around the holidays,” said DiPietro. “I hope to see Islanders fans out in full force on Tuesday.”

All fans that come down and donate one turkey or more will be entered into a raffle to take home an autographed Rick DiPietro jersey. All fans who come down and make a monetary donation of $150 or more will get the chance to win four tickets to a future Islanders game for the 2006 -2007 season. Donate $50 or more and get the opportunity to take home an 8-pack of movie tickets courtesy of KJOY and the Long Island Radio Group.

Families and individuals can also support the campaign by stopping by one of the numerous supermarket food collection events, bringing non-perishable food donations to local drop-off locations including Citibank, The Bristal Assisted Living, and Panera Bread (frozen turkeys only), donating a turkey or their supermarket turkey coupon. Monetary contributions are also welcome to help support Island Harvest's year-round food donation programs.
